Re: Stan Bowles HOVIS
One of many maverick type characters who played at the top level in the 70's and part of the excellent QPR team of the mid 70's who were a joy to watch.

RIP.

Apparently Alzheimer’s. Heading them ball’s back in the 70’s is looking like a death sentence.? It’s ain’t sad. It’s a fucking tragedy.!

Great player
best comment about him was

if he could pass a betting shop like he did a ball he would have been fine .

Thomas the winger who use to tear down the wing with his socks down is another sad case.

Re: Stan Bowles HOVIS
Fucking genius of a player, ridiculously talented.

Amazed he got to 75 with the way he drank, but he was still a hero to me on the pitch. I miss the big characters like him, Le Tissier was probably the last one like him.

A Loftus road legend

A lot of my mates growing up and to this day are QPR and in mourning tonight although this wasn't unexpected.

A.great player and a real London character who had none of the arrogance of their other maverick of that era Rodney Marsh

His appearance on Superstars where he shot the table is well worth a watch too.

Re: Stan Bowles HOVIS
No pre match warm ups for Stan as he would be in the players lounge watching the 2.50 at Chepstow.
Post match White city dog track

Don Shanks was his big mate and another mad punter

Re: Stan Bowles HOVIS
Loved watching him play. A proper maverick who loved to entertain. Fantastic player.

And yes, not as successful on Superstars. Turned up hungover and got the lowest ever points total. Shot a hole in the table and capsized the canoe.

Stanley Bowles, wank wank wank

GSs

Dave Clement (rb) was another member of that QPR side that loved a bet, it was said that if he wasn't on the training ground in time, someone would be sent to the local bookies to drag him out.

Re: Stan Bowles HOVIS
Blimey, it's a QPR love in, I wonder if on their forums they salivate over our great sides of the past?

Re: Stan Bowles HOVIS
Remember him as a kid, they had few great players in that era, Rodney Marsh also comes to mind.

See it was the curse of Alzheimer's that got him, a path im about to go down as my Mum has been diagnosed, going to be a rough few years i think and will be making more trips to the UK than i normally would.

RIP Stan
